Students looking for practical experience during college can explore a wide range of opportunities through the AICTE Internship Programs 2026 and the National Internship Portal. The portal is operated by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of Education, Government of India, and brings internship opportunities from government organisations, companies, MSMEs and other participating organisations onto one platform.
Instead of depending only on college notices or individual company websites, students can create a profile and search for internships according to their skills, branch, location and other preferences.

Types of AICTE Internships Available
The National Internship Portal covers several categories, allowing students to search for opportunities relevant to their education and career interests.
1. Engineering and Technology Internships
Students from Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and related branches can find opportunities connected with technical projects, software, engineering, infrastructure and emerging technologies.
2. AI, Data Science and Emerging Technology
Students interested in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, analytics, cloud computing and related technologies can search for opportunities matching their skills.
These internships can be particularly useful for students who want practical project experience alongside their academic studies.
3. Government and Public-Sector Opportunities
The portal also lists internships associated with government organisations and public programmes. Current portal information includes opportunities connected with areas such as transport, electronics and information technology, urban development and other public-sector initiatives.
4. Research Internships
AICTE also provides a dedicated research internship section. Research internships can involve work with organisations, NGOs and MSMEs, innovation and entrepreneurship activities, institutional projects and academic or industry research projects.
AICTE Internship 2026 Eligibility
There is no single eligibility rule for every internship listed on the portal. Requirements depend on the organisation and the particular internship.
Students should check:
- Educational qualification
- Current year or semester
- Academic branch or discipline
- Required technical skills
- Internship duration
- Location or work mode
- Minimum academic requirements, if specified
- Documents requested by the organisation
- Application deadline
This is important because meeting general student requirements does not automatically mean that a student is eligible for every internship available on the portal.
